Methods of Treatment
Kinesio Tape
Kinesio Tape is a therapeutic, elastic adhesive that provides stability to the joints and muscles. It used to treat athletic injuries or pain in physically active individuals. The tape is waterproof cotton that is more pliable than athletic tape used by athletes such as boxers and football players. It can be applied to anybody's area but is commonly used to treat the back, legs, and shoulders. Kinesio tape keeps the injured area in place to prevent further injury. It aids in pain relief, supports muscle movement, and keeps joints from becoming misaligned. It does not inhibit motion, but it tugs the skin to improve posture and proper alignment with the body. It creates heightened awareness in the patient of how they should carry their body. The most significant benefit of Kinesio tape is that it continues treatment outside of the office.
Kettlebell Exercises
Kettlebell exercises are cast-iron weights used as a therapeutic corrective exercise technique. They are addressing back pain, aligning the spine, and correcting musculature and cardiovascular weaknesses. Kettlebells are not only healing – they're also an excellent workout! The American Council on Exercise found in a recent study that for each 20-minute kettlebell session, participants were able to burn roughly 20 calories per minute.
Neuromuscular Reeducation
Neuromuscular reeducation is a therapeutic technique used to retrain and restore the full function of the neuromuscular system. It uses various exercises such as strengthening and stretching to improve flexibility and range of motion. Neuromuscular reeducation seeks to bolster the mind-body connection so that the body may begin to repair itself.
Ultrasound Therapy
Ultrasound can provide rapid healing to the treated site during physical therapy treatments when the applicator moves over the skin's surface, blood flow increases in the area. Inflammation decreases, as well as pain, and damaged tissue begin to heal. Ultrasound is the number one treatment for edema; it removes excess fluid from the area treated. We use ultrasound in combination with electrical stimulation for faster tissue healing and blood circulation.
Stretching
The correct therapeutic activities can dramatically alter the body. Stretching exercises reduce stiffness and aid with balance, strength, joint control, and the muscles' reeducation. Frequent stretching of the back distributes nutrients into surrounding tissue and disc spaces.
