What is Active Release Techniques (ART)?
ART is a massage technique that is used to treat the muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and fascia, which can successfully resolve over 90% of patients’ symptoms. It is important to consider ART when experiencing symptoms such as pain, numbness and weakness from muscle over-use. Muscle over-use can result to microtrauma as well as hypoxia. As soon as muscles are over worked, it can cause tears, collisions or pulls. Once dense scar tissue is produced, it disables other tissues to move freely. This build up can affect the nerves, and it can form tendonitis.
An ART session takes 1 hour, and within that time frame it is used for both treatment and examination. Manhattan Wellness Group has the best, and most qualified massage therapists who can easily determine certain pain, weakness, or numbness by examining the tightness, or flexibility of certain muscles, tendons, fascia, ligaments, and nerves.
During the treatment process, there are over 550 moves used in order to identify certain complications and abnormalities. This process includes a combination of tension directed to abnormal tissues and an examination of movements as a way to determine the problem, and correcting it accordingly.
